It's stated that over 50% of people make eating cleaner or losing weight as their new year's resolution. However, only 8% of people stick to their new year's resolution.
All of us try to be better, eat better, exercise better. And invariably we fail.
Make this the year you succeed and conquer those statistics.
Check Out These Simple 5 New Year's Resolutions That Can Help You Feel Better and beat those statistics.
1. Sleep More
Most of us find that getting the recommended 8 hours of sleep is hard to do. We are super busy with family, friends, careers, and more. With that being said, it is extremely important that we get the sleep we need, because sleep deprivation can lead to health problems. After all, sleep deprivation in the long term can lead to obesity, heart problems, depression, exhaustion, diabetes, and more. This year make sure to get your sleep. Go to be earlier, create a sleep schedule with one of the sleep apps on your phone, take naps, listen to nature sounds, and enjoy a hot cup of milk/tea(decaffeinated) before bed.
2. Clean Eating
You have to admit at least one time in your life eating healthier and losing weight was probably a resolution of your's. You promised yourself you would start and succeed, but before the year ended, we gave it up. Why? Many of us set unrealistic goals. The best way to improve your diet is to start eating healthier. A lot of people think that life style changes are hard, but they really aren't. You really just need to make a few switches.
Probably not the best choice!
First, change the cooking oil you use. Instead of unhealthy oils like Canola Oil, which is actually a registered pesticide, try oils like High Oleic Sunflower Oil. SUNVELLA Oils are great for this because they are non-gmo, gluten free, vegan and paleo friendly, direct from nature, no transfat, and they promote good cholesterol.
Add more vegetables to your diet. If you are a meat eater like most of us, and don't like veggies, try some of the veggie burgers at your local supermarket and substitute them into your diet. Switch to whole grains, and stay away from processed foods.
3. Walking The Fun Way
Most people are not fans of exercising, unless you are one of those perfect Instagram fitness gurus, who make it look so simple. Do they even sweat? Probably not. Instead of trying all their insane workouts, just walk. Walking is a low impact way of improving your health. The best way to walk is to make it a competition. Download an app or use your Iphone to help you keep track. When you are at the supermarket, park in the back of the parking lot. Find parks in your area to keep the view beautiful, and get a walking buddy. Talking while walking will pass the time quickly, and you will find that you love catching up daily on the latest news in town while losing a little weight.
Randomly, we found there is certain percentage of people that make dental health a resolution. Flossing is super important to prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and of course SUPER HIGH dental bills. This is an easy resolution that you can work into your brushing routine in the morning and evening.
5. Put Your Phone Down
We see kids these days attached to their phones as if it is an extra arm. However, it's not just the younger generation anymore. More and more adults and senior citizens are becoming tech-savy. Be honest, many of us are guilty of letting phones run our lives. Set a time to put your phone and or other devices down. During this time, cook a new dish, read a new book, socialize, or take up a new hobby. One parent told us that they made it a rule to have no internet at dinner in their house. Since doing it, their family relationships have improved.
